ST PAUL’S Football Club claimed a fifth consecutive women’s divisional title on Sunday, but concerns have since been raised that the champions will not have a squad next season.
Five of the current team are due to retire at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, two others are standing down due to injuries and Muratti captain Eve Watson is going travelling.
Club president Mark Sheldon, who assists manager and coach Sara Vasse, said: ‘Five titles on the trot is a fantastic achievement, the girls have thoroughly deserved their success but I don’t know if we will have enough players next season to be able to defend it.
‘Five of our players are retiring because of their age, a couple will not be playing because of back injuries while Eve Watson is going away.
‘That will leave us very short on players and we will require at least eight coming in for the team to continue next season'
