Football: Vincenti wins League One Player of the Month award

It was the second accolade in a week for the former Muratti player having received the Sky Bet Football League Unsung Hero award for August, for his work as a patron for the Edgar’s Gift Charity.

Last month Vincenti scored in four separate games for Rochdale helping him to his latest award.

Vincenti (29) said: ‘I’m delighted; I was pleased to be nominated but never thought I would actually win.

‘I’ve had lots of congratulations from my team-mates and although it is an individual award it’s down to them as well because they are the team around me.

‘I’ve been the lucky one being able to score the goals so it is a collective effort and all down to the manager and the team.’

Rochdale manager Keith Hill said: ‘I think Peter has been outstanding in his goal-scoring exploits this season and I’m also delighted with his leadership qualities.

‘He’s very influential and he’s an important character in the changing rooms. He’s committed and when players are committed, they commit performance wise.’

Vincenti’s recent Unsung Hero Award caught the eye of a Jersey resident who sent Vincenti a signed Crystal Palace shirt to auction with the proceeds going to the Edgar’s Gift Charity.
