Football: Ladies Muratti squad announced

The 16-year-old St John shot-stopper, who impressed in Jersey’s 5-1 win at Springfield last week and is the most recent female recipient of the JFA’s Capita Centre of Excellence Sid Guy Award, replaces Grouville goalkeeper Catherine Overbury for Sunday’s match away to Guernsey.

2010: Jersey 8-0 Guernsey

2011: Guernsey 2-6 Jersey

2012: Jersey 1-0 Guernsey

2013: Guernsey 0-3 Jersey

2014: Jersey 5-1 Guernsey

Jersey manager Simon Petulla named his first Muratti squad of 18 last night.

Petulla said: ‘It’s always a tough decision to make a change at this late stage but Sara impressed against the RAF last weekend, so she deserves her place. Sara is not in the Island Games squad, but she put that disappointment behind her by reacting in the right way to get back in, and I hope Catherine will do the same in the future.

‘Making a late change shows that nobody’s place is safe and changes can be made due to form.’

Meanwhile, injuries have ruled out Holly Muirhead and Jemma Daniel, but JEP Golden Boot winner Catarina Andrade, runner-up Rosie Corbett and former professional Jodie Botterill are all included.

Sara Luce won JFA Centre of Excellence's Sid Guy Award earlier this year

Sunday’s game is at Sylvans FC’s ground in St Peter, Guernsey, starting at 1.30 pm.

Goalkeepers: Sara Luce, Chantelle Audrain

Defenders: Kelly Hughes, Candice Parsons, Michelle Bichard, Sophie Botterill, Aimée Le Quélènec, Sylvie Spinola, Lauren Quémard

Midfielders: Libby Barnett, Fiona MacKinnon, Eve Watson, Marta Ascenção, Lara Couvert, Jess Vieira, Jodie Botterill

Forwards: Rosie Corbett and Catarina Andrade
