Tough night for Reds in Dublin

Jersey lost 26-6, with only a penalty apiece scored in the second half, so drop to second in the table, three points behind the Irish rugby giants.

The Reds failed to make an expected comeback in the second half with a strong wind at their backs having trailed 23-3 at half time at Donnybrook. Jersey only had a long-distance penalty from Lewis Robling to their name in the first period, although they did put the Leinster pack under considerable pressure at the end, forcing two yellow cards to front rowers.

Playing against the wind Jersey conceded two tries to scrum-half Luke McGrath, while his fellow half-back Ross Byrne enjoyed a good evening with the boot. Jersey struggled in the scrum early on, with loosehead prop Nacho Lancuba yellow carded, but the pack generally looked capable of putting Leinster under pressure.

A Bentley penalty early in the second half gave Jersey hope, but they could not build momentum to build on the score.
