GUERNSEY overcame a poor first half show to regain the Ambassadeur Bowl against hosts Jersey in the Under-21 Muratti at Springfield on Saturday, but only after a extended penalty shootout.

Extra time had failed to add to the normal time scoreline of 1-1 and the lack of accuracy in front of goal from both teams continued deep into the 20-penalty shootout, with six of the first nine kicks failing to beat the keepers.

A massive improvement followed with the Sarnians eventually triumphing 7-6 after one of Jersey’s better players on the day, forward Daryl Wilson, struck the base of James Harmon’s right-hand post.
