Jersey will be looking to put aside the troubles of the past week when the British & Irish Cup resumes at St Peter this afternoon.

Following the disappointment of defeat to their relegation rivals Doncaster last Friday, and yesterday’s departure of player-coach Ben Evans, the team will be looking to restore morale in the B&I Pool Five clash with Leinster ’.

Jersey’s previous cup outings this season signalled the start of an upward curve for Ben Harvey’s men, who followed up a draw with Pontypridd and a win against Leeds with back-to-back league triumphs. the director of rugby is looking for a repeat performance.

‘The cup games acted as a catalyst for the league and gave us a really big dose of self-belief,’ he said. ‘We won two Championship games, although have since had tough matches against Bristol and Newcastle before we went to Doncaster.

‘We’ve put the Doncaster game to bed now and are looking for a reaction from the squad, who need to prove to themselves, and to our supporters, what they are capable of.’

Kick-off at St Peter is at 3 pm.
