Band fear ‘precious memories’ may never be returned to them

In what was the third theft to affect local musicians in the space of a week, indie band Mozaics were dismayed to discover that their GoPro Hero+ video recording camera had been taken from a bag backstage.

In a post on Facebook, the band initially appealed to the thief’s better nature and urged whoever took it to hand the camera back.

‘Sadly, our band GoPro was taken from a zipped bag behind the main stage at Groove De Lecq,’ the band wrote after the festival, which was held on Saturday 5 August.

‘It had a load of footage on which is very precious to us, and we don’t have it backed up anywhere.

‘If you took this from us, please do the right thing and get in touch. We won’t be upset with you, we just really don’t want to lose those memories. There weren’t many people with access behind the IQ stage, so we really hope we can get this back.’

However, on Friday the group confirmed that the camera had yet to be returned to them.

‘If the person was thinking of anonymously returning it or the SD card, we would have expected to see it by now,’ they said.

Less than a week before that theft, DJ Stefan Rousseau reported having had two hard drives worth £53 each – containing almost all of his music collection – stolen, on the eve of his set at the Havre des Pas Seaside Festival.

The French-born DJ was moving his equipment into the Lido at Havre des Pas on Sunday 30 July when the equipment went missing at around 5.30 pm.

And just days later, musician Kevin Pallot notified his followers on social media that a case of equipment worth several hundred pounds had been stolen on 30 July.

In a post on social media, Mr Pallot said the case had been taken ‘by some guy with no heart or respect, at 4.30 on Sunday morning from the back of the Troubadour’.
