Man fined for throwing traffic cone at doorman’s head

Fisherman Loic Michael Farnham, of Cambrai Mews, Grouville, pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting the doorman of the Tenby pub, in St Aubin, at 10.45 pm on 11 February.

His friend Jose Darryl Lewis (27), of Route de St Aubin, was fined £600 for causing a breach of the peace during the same incident.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that the incident began as a verbal altercation before Farnham picked up an orange cone and threw it at the doorman.

Lewis and the doorman were also involved in a ‘physical altercation’, the court heard.

The incident began when Farnham’s girlfriend wanted to use the toilet but was refused entry, according to Advocate Julian Gollop, defending.

A letter of apology written by Farnham to both the doorman and the court was submitted.

Advocate Mike Preston, defending Lewis, said that there was a minor scuffle and his client had come off worst, as he had suffered a neck injury and a broken finger.

In sentencing both men, Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu said: ‘Doormen have a difficult enough job as it is without having to put up with this sort of drunken behaviour.’
