Driver who had 10 pints and crashed his car banned from the road

Steven Michael Kane, of Mont de la Rosière, St Saviour, was also ordered to complete 110 hours of community service after admitting drink-driving. He was more than two and a half times the legal drink-drive limit.

Centenier David Webber said that after the Snow Hill crash the defendant drove off and later also had an accident in the road in which he lives.

The offences took place in the early hours of 30 April and the court was told that on 2 May the defendant went to the police and told them that he may have damaged a car parked in Snow Hill car park.

He told officers that he had a vague recollection of colliding with something but could not remember what.

The owner of the car had already reported the extensive damage to police.

Addressing Kane, Magistrate Bridget Shaw: ‘You cannot possibly drink ten pints and then think about going to get in your car.’
