Mr Cavill talked about his movie work on Sunday before taking part in the 13 km Durrell Challenge.
‘Everyone working on that film is an absolute saint and I can’t speak more highly of them.
‘Doing stunts with Tom Cruise is one of those things that you never thought you’d end up doing. He really does do the stunts himself which not everyone realises,’ he said.
Mr Cavill also spoke of his pride at being able to promote the ‘incredible work’ of Durrell.
Hundreds of Islanders turned out at the People’s Park to run alongside the Man of Steel, who took a break from filming Mission Impossible 6 to take part in the Durrell Challenge.
The actor said that he was delighted to be back in the Island to support Durrell and that Jersey Zoo played a big part of his childhood.
‘Durrell is something I care about because it is a part of home to me. I’ve got great experiences and memories from going there as a kid.
‘I’ve always been fascinated by animals and now I have an opportunity to help protect them and support Durrell. The work they do in hauling species back from the brink of extinction is incredible,’ he said.
Pictures in Monday’s JEP.
