Nine firefighters were sent to the scene at Marina Avenue in St Clement and quickly brought the fire under control. They stayed on the scene while the gas cylinder was assessed by Jersey Gas.
In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘As the weather improves and people begin using barbecues after the winter, it is vital that the cylinder and all connections are inspected, are leak free and safe to use.
‘If you require any advice on cylinder safety prior to using your barbecue please contact your cylinder supplier.’
