Ministers sign off £900k Brexit review of finance

Yesterday, Prime Minister Theresa May sent a letter to EU President Donald Tusk notifying him of the UK’s intention to sever its ties with Brussels under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.

The move initiated a period of negotiations between the UK and EU which will last at least two years before Britain leaves Europe.

And with the UK preparing itself for a new era of international trade deals and relations, the States has announced that a major review of the business strategy of the Island’s finance industry, which employs 14,000 people, is due to be launched.

The review is due to be commissioned next month by Jersey Finance Limited, which promotes the sector, and will focus on the ‘opportunities and challenges’ that may arise from Brexit and the UK’s changing relationship with the EU.
