Jersey economy stronger? No, says Guernsey minister

Speaking at a Guernsey Chamber of Commerce lunch, Deputy Gavin St Pier said that the recession had affected the two islands differently and that Jersey’s economy had suffered more severely.

‘Jersey experienced a longer, deeper recession, from which in the last couple of years they appear to have “bounced”.’

Deputy St Pier, who is the president of the Policy and Resources Committee, said that Guernsey’s economy in 2015 was 10% larger than in 2007 – while Jersey’s was 10% smaller.
