New mental health initiative launched

The Jersey Recovery College, part-funded by the States Mental Health Strategy, is run by a number of health professionals and trainers with experience of mental health issues.

The charity is already trialling courses which are attended by more than 70 students. They hope to offer their first public semester in May.

The recovery model is used both internationally and in the UK. Anyone aged over 18 can access the courses and individuals can self-refer.

Beth Moore, college manager, said it’s about a joined-up approach between Island agencies.
