A history of Jersey in 30,000 objects…

The charity is cataloguing and photographing around 30,000 modern artefacts in a project that is expected to take three years.

The items range from the mundane and everyday, such as old biscuit boxes and 1960s televisions, to the wonderfully esoteric, including an old cow bone that has been decorated by a member of the Occupying forces and a grubby jar with the ominous label ‘LEECHES’.

There are also old bicycles still sporting ‘licence plates’, dozens of cobblers’ shoe moulds, a set of pre-war dentistry equipment that will likely make a certain generation shudder and a scale model of Jersey’s General Hospital.
