Pam helps church enjoy the sweet taste of success

Pam Turner (79) never imagined that selling preserves would end up making many thousands of pounds for St Clement’s Parish Church. But she has raised more than £50,000 for the church since she started making jams, chutneys and marmalades 20 years ago.

And now she produces 2,000 jars a year, referring to her trusty recipe book before starting a batch.

Mrs Turner, who has lived in St Clement for 23 years, was taught how to make jam by her mother, but only made it for pleasure until the church needed to raise money.

She sells her preserves at the St Clement coffee morning once a month and at the country shows at the Royal Jersey Showground four times a year.
