Playground and nature trail hopes

Jersey Heritage have already been granted permission to build the first stage of the playground.

However, it has now lodged a further application to expand the playground into the east of the site.

Chris Addy, sites curator for Jersey Heritage, said that the design would be in keeping with the surroundings of Hamptonne.

He said: ‘The final bit of planning relates to the upper area on the east side. The main changes will be to the lower area.

‘There is a bit of levelling and groundwork to do but obviously we have worked closely with Planning over this and our archaeologist will be overseeing it.

‘We have looked at historic past-times and games and how they could be incorporated into it.

‘There are going to be a series of challenges for early-years visitors to Hamptonne.’ The project is being carried out by Bristol-based firm The Green Play Project.

The public consultation period on the latest planning application is due to run until Tuesday 14 February.
