Scientists hoping to unearth new species

A team of local volunteers have joined Emma Sherlock, from the Natural History Museum in London, and Kerry Calloway, of the Earthworm Society of Britain, for the Earthworm Watch initiative.

Ms Calloway says due to the Island being at the southern extremity of the British Isles they could come across previously unidentified species.

‘Jersey and the Channel Islands are a key part of the country but there are only a handful of records for the islands,’ she said.
