Children’s choir move judges to tears in final of national contest

The Musical Originals Training Choir, made up of youngsters aged between seven and 13, performed in front of hundreds at the National Choir of the Year at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff last weekend.

They were the only children’s group in the contest. And although the 28-strong choir was pipped to the post by Newcastle Voices of Hope, choir director Imogen Nicholls said their performance moved the audience and two of the judges – Mercury Prize nominee ESKA and world-famous opera singer Danielle de Neise – to tears.

Their performance is due to be aired on BBC Radio 3 at 7.30 pm today and it will also feature in a programme scheduled to be broadcast on BBC 4 at 8 pm on Sunday.
