Waterfront not suitable for hospital, explains minister

This week St John Constable Chris Taylor lodged an amendment to the minister’s proposition – which proposes a £463 million redevelopment of the current site – stating that the Waterfront would be cheaper than the current site, could be completed two years earlier and performed better than the current site in terms of ‘weighted benefits ranking’ and ‘weighted risks ranking’.

If Mr Taylor’s amendment, which asks for a like-for-like evaluation of the Waterfront and existing sites to be carried out, is successful a decision on a final location for the new hospital will be made next year.

However, if Members reject the amendment, the States will debate plans to build on the current site.
