Deputy Murray Norton said that the ice rink would now form part of the entertainment at Fort Regent, funded by its operational budget, and that he was confident it would be a success.
The former organiser, Keith Halstead, will now be acting as a contractor, with Sure sponsoring the event.
Last month Mr Halstead, of Ice Skate Jersey, said that the annual event at the Fort run by his company had been cancelled after it was announced an ice rink would run at the Weighbridge at the same time. He said that having two rinks in the Island was not commercially viable.
