Woman asked to be sent to jail for crimes

The woman asked through her lawyer that she be jailed to wipe the slate clean, but in sentencing, Relief Magistrate Sarah Fitz said that she had not imposed the custodial sentence because the defendant had asked for it.

Mrs Fitz said that the defendant had previously breached a number of orders and that the court had no option but to impose a custodial sentence.

The court was told by police legal adviser Carla Carvalho that the defendant had been staying at the Shelter Trust’s Aztec House premises in Kensington Place but had been asked to leave in the early hours of 27 September.
