The defendant, who was given a nine-month probation order for the assault, was told by the Assistant Magistrate that his actions on 25 August in Elizabeth Place were an example of ‘bullying and controlling behaviour’.
The court heard that witnesses contacted the police after they saw the pair – who had both been drinking – row as they walked back home from a food fair.
Centenier David Webber said that the assault took place when Lancaster, of Le Geyt Flats, pulled the victim from behind as she tried to get away from him.
As a result, she fell, bumped her head on the ground and was kept in hospital that evening with head injuries.
