Pride of Jersey recognises Island’s community heroes

Held in the grounds of Government House, the three finalists in each of the 12 categories, together with friends, family, judges and sponsors all came together to hear the winners announced.

More than 250 guests attended the event, which for the second year was co-hosted by former England footballer Graeme Le Saux and singer Nerina Pallot.

And after 12 winners had been announced, the JEP’S deputy editor Carl Walker revealed that the winner of a surprise 13th category – the Special Recognition Award – was Jo English.

Jo, who works in the X-ray and radiology department at the Hospital, was recognised for her actions in performing life-saving CPR on Islander Jim McGranahan, who suffered a heart attack when running the Collas Crill round-Island walk this year.

Read the remarkable story in Monday’s JEP and all of the winners extraordinary stories in a special Pride of Jersey 2016 commemorative supplement.
