Wedding costs set to rise?

Currently the cost of getting married is subsidised through general taxation but

the Island’s superintendent registrar says that her department will have £112,000 a year removed from its budget, if the Medium Term Financial Plan Addition is approved in September.

As a result user-pays charges for civil and non-Anglican weddings are being considered, although the Church of England acts as a registrar for itself and so is not included in the planned price rise

The cost of a registry office wedding ranges between £260 and £360 at present, an approved non-religious location marriage costs around £290 and non-Anglican ceremonies are charged at a rate of £190.
