St Helier promise to improve Town Park safety

Thousands have signed a petition calling for ‘immediate action’ to improve safety after Clinton Pringle was knocked down by a vehicle in Tunnell Street which runs parallel to the Millennium Town Park. Clinton, who was visiting the Island with his mother Stacey, was airlifted to Southampton where he later died.

Yesterday, the Parish of St Helier said that it was due to consult with the States police, following which it would do everything it could to ensure safety measures were put in place ‘as soon as possible’.

Parish officials could be seen in Tunnell Street yesterday surveying and asking motorists why they use the road. In a statement, the parish said that it would investigate ‘as a matter of urgency’ what could be done to ‘strengthen existing traffic conditions’.
