Sam Dixon will take over from Steve Dewhurst, who is due to retire in December after 16 years in the post.
Mrs Dixon, who has been deputy head at St Saviour’s School since 2008, is a former pupil of Jersey College for Girls Prep and JCG.
She studied biophysics at Leeds University and began her teaching career at First Tower Primary School in 1990.
