200 complaints to new ombudsman

The Channel Islands financial ombudsman has released its first set of quarterly figures, along with its report and accounts for 2015 after opening on 16 November last year.

According to the data, 222 complaints were submitted between then and 31 March, with 135 of those being lodged in the first quarter of 2016.

The service, led by David Thomas, the chairman of the board of directors, and principal ombudsman and chief executive Douglas Melville, was established to resolve complaints about financial services offered in the islands fairly and reasonably.
