Islanders ‘live longer than ever before’

In fact, the Health Department say that children in Jersey can now expect to live a ‘longer, healthier life than ever before’.

Data from a new report shows that in total around one in three Islanders (311 per 100,000) die before their 75th birthday compared with the national average in England of 337 per 100,000 people.

Heart disease and strokes are responsible for the deaths of around 80 Islanders per year under the age of 75 – 29 per cent less than the English average, which places Jersey among the top ten healthiest regions for these diseases in England.
