Police on recruitment drive for ten new officers

Up to ten recruits are wanted by the force, which lost 12 officers between 2014 and 2015 through ‘natural wastage’, which includes retirements and resignations.

The salaries for the new jobs start at about £34,000 a year.

Officer jobs were last advertised in October 2013 and the police recruited in early 2014 and they say they have not been given any extra funding to employ the new officers and that the money for the ten extra salaries is coming from existing budget allowances.
