Longer pub hours for Queen’s birthday

A proposition to allow licensed premises to serve until 1 am on 10 and 11 June, which was lodged by Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham, was approved by 37 votes to three yesterday.

The only Members who opposed the proposal were Health Minister Andrew Green, St Saviour Constable Sadie Rennard and St Martin Constable Michel Le Troquer.

Outlining the proposition, Economic Development Assistant Minister Steve Pallett said that the extended opening hours would allow Jersey to celebrate the occasion alongside the UK and several Members showed support for the proposition, however, with some saying that Jersey should further extend its licensing hours more often.
