Ex-Solicitor General to act in finance centre challenge

A hearing to determine whether there are grounds for a judicial review of the approval will take place in the Royal Court on Friday 20 May.

Advocate Sharp, who stepped down as one of the Island’s most senior law officers last year, is to represent the St Helier Waterfront Action Group at the hearing.

It is the latest move in a sustained campaign to disrupt the project, being undertaken by the Jersey Development Company, which develops States-owned assets and last month the campaigners, led by former politician Sean Power, announced their intention to seek a judicial review, arguing that a decision to approve plans for Building 5 – the second office planned for the Esplanade site – was unjust.
