Steroids importer asks the court for a light sentence

Maciej Cholewinski imported 11 types of the class C drugs, worth a total of £700, in a package labelled as a mobile phone.

On 9 February, Customs officers intercepted the package, which the 25-year-old Polish national had ordered on the internet and had addressed to his brother and they later visited the address and found Cholewinski, who admitted importing the drugs for his personal use in the gym to develop bigger muscles.

He told officers that he had ordered the drugs in his brother’s name because his brother was on holiday.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that last November, Customs had sent the defendant a letter warning him about steroid importation after they had intercepted packages addressed to him containing similar drugs.

When asked by Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu if he had anything to say about the offences, Cholewinski asked for a ‘light judgment’.

Cholewinski, who pleaded guilty to 11 counts of steroid importation, was fined £500.
