Winning design for St Helier war memorial is announced

Islander Siobhann Macleod’s design was chosen from 16 shortlisted entries this week after deliberation by the St Helier Roads Committee.

The competition, launched in September, invited artists, sculptors and architects to put forward ideas for the £250,000 project, which is due to be created opposite the Cenotaph in Parade Gardens.

Four entries – from Siobhann Macleod, Carlo and Raewyn Riva, Allan Miller and Kate Denton and Leah Bliss – were put on display in the Town Hall last month and the Roads Committee received hundreds of written comments from Islanders, which helped them in making the final decision.
