New Anzac Day ceremony

The date, known as Anzac Day, is one of Australia’s and New Zealand’s most important national days, as it marks the first major military action fought by the two nations under their own command.

Since 1916 at dawn on 25 April – the time Anzac forces landed at Gallipoli – Australians and New Zealanders have gathered to hold commemorations – Anzac stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Jersey’s dawn ceremony is being organised by Australian John Davis, who has taken part in commemorations since childhood.
