The Met Office issued a red storm warning at 2.43 am and urged people to ‘avoid outside activity’, with winds reaching 74 mph.
The Fire and Rescue Service were called into action shortly after midnight, sending a team of chainsaw specialists out to remove a tree blocking a road near La Hougue Bie, in the parish of Grouville. The Rescue Service also had to help secure several roofs where tiles had been blown off.
