Terri the loggerhead turtle captured the hearts of Islanders in January after storms caused it to veer off course.
The reptile spent a number of weeks in a tank at the Fresh Fish Company, who launched an online campaign to raise more than £10,000 to fly the turtle on a private jet – owned by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson – to a specialist rehabilitation centre in Gran Canaria.
On Friday, almost ten weeks after arriving in Jersey, Terri has been released into warmer waters fitted with a tracking device so that Islanders and conservationists can follow its journey.
