The new owners of Beauport Battery in St Brelade – ex-Formula One champion Nigel Mansell’s former property – have applied for permission to develop part of their grounds on the Beauport side of the property where a sunken rose garden and pergola sit.
Under the proposals for the home, which lies in the heavily protected Coastal National Park, a seating area with an outdoor bar, a terrace, new deck, refurbished patio area with a small barbecue unit and another seating area containing a TV and a ‘bioethanol fire pit’ would also be created.
On the upper level second tier of decking the owners have also proposed to build a plunge pool, as well as an infinity pool.
Five objections, including concerns about noise and light pollution, have been registered on the Planning Department’s website, including one from the National Trust for Jersey.
