The veteran States Member said that following a public backlash against the plan he was calling on colleagues to send a message to the Council of Ministers to ‘leave our park alone’.
It comes after it emerged that the prized parish plot was emerging as the front runner for the location of the multi-million-pound hospital project.
Health Minister Andrew Green had previously revealed that a shortlist of four possible options for a new hospital – extending the existing building, building at the Waterfront, at Overdale or at the People’s Park – were being considered.
Earlier this month the JEP reported that the popular park appeared to be the favoured option, with Senator Green calling it a ‘strong contender’.
