Bob Gallichan died last month aged 63, days after Gallichan Marine on St Aubin Bulwarks was gutted by fire.
The States police have declined to confirm whether Mr Gallichan was the suspect. However, a 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson but was found dead on the day he was due to answer bail.
The arrested man was due to answer bail on 30 December – the same day as Mr Gallichan was found dead. An inquest into Mr Gallichan’s death opened yesterday afternoon to allow his body to be released for cremation.
The inquest was adjourned.
