A £10,000 project to build a ‘pump track’ – a looping trail system of bumps and slopes designed for bike sports – has now been completed and the site was officially opened this week.
The project was the brainchild of businessman Aaron Lappage and was backed by Hollywood stuntman and keen mountain biker Lee Morrison, who lives in the Island.
Plans for the track, which were drawn up for free by Dyson and Buesnel Architects, were passed in March and building work began after the summer holidays.
