Controversial redevelopment of low-rise flats could be given green light this week

Politicians on the Planning Committee are due to review the scheme, along with nearly 20 others, on Thursday at a public meeting at St Paul’s Centre.

The redevelopment has become a topic of intense debate in recent months after St Helier Deputy Russell Labey – a member of the planning committee who has no vote on the scheme because he represents the district of the scheme – brought a proposition before the States calling for the preservation of green space at the site.

That vote was passed, but Andium has resubmitted its original scheme and the Planning Department has recommended that the project now be approved.
