Jersey police confirmed that they had launched a criminal investigation into the fire, which took place at Gallichan Marine.
It took fire fighters several hours to bring the blaze under control, with neighbours forced to evacuate their homes as the fire was brought under control.
The suspect was in police custody on Wednesday.
