Jersey Dairy donate hundreds of cartons of milk to Calais refugee charity

The Jersey Calais Refugee Aid Group has been gathering donations for its upcoming trips to the ‘jungle’ in Calais, where they have been distributing aid and building shelters for thousands of stricken refugees.

And Jersey Dairy have got involved by giving the charity two pallet-loads of UHT milk, which has a much longer shelf life and can be stored at room temperature.

Simon Irons, a member of JCRAJ, said that the charity had been impressed by the generosity of Islanders and local companies.

‘Jersey Dairy were more than happy to help us and long-life milk is a great idea because it does not need to be refrigerated,’ he said.

‘There have been lots of donations coming in and we are planning our next trip on 5 December.’
