New Solicitor General named

Advocate Mark Temple will take over the role from Howard Sharp QC later this year, it has today been announced.

Mr Temple, who was educated at Kings College School, London and at Cambridge University, is a partner at Mourant Ozannes where he has worked since 2003 practising in the areas of litigation, employment, intellectual property, international trusts and private client law.

Prior to joining Mourant Ozannes, he qualified and practised in the City firm Ashurst from 1992 to 2003, specialising in general commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

The 48-year-old, who is married with two children, became a partner at Mourant Ozannes in 2007 and qualified as a solicitor for England and Wales in 1994 and as a Jersey Advocate in 2005.

His work in the Island has included a wide variety of disputes including contentious trusts, funds, banking and asset tracing litigation, as well as directors’ duties, regulatory issues and employment disputes.

Mr Temple, who has been appointed to the role by the Queen, on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, commented: ‘I very much look forward to serving the Island of Jersey as H M Solicitor General.

‘It is an honour to be appointed to this challenging role.’
