Jersey should have an SS Vega day, says historian

On 31 December this year Islanders will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the SS Vega’s first of six trips to Jersey with a host of events planned next year.

And now local historian Howard Baker says he has held brief talks with the British Red Cross and the Bailiff’s Chambers about re-naming December 30 – the day before relief parcels were delivered to the Island – SS Vega Day.
