Former Jersey under-18 goalkeeper Nick Ashley produced two fine saves in the shoot-out leaving Jersey winners following a 3-3 draw after extra-time.
Jersey, playing against the strong wind at Blanche Pierre Lane – the match was moved from The Track because of a waterlogged pitch – fell behind in the tenth minute and then they slipped 2-0 in arrears shortly before the half hour.
Captain Luke Campbell pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time and then substitute Stevie Reid equalised with seven minutes remaining. Reid notched his second to put Jersey ahead with six minutes of extra-time left only for Guernsey to equalise in the final minute.
Jersey manager Dave Brodie said: ‘It was a roller coaster of a game and a fantastic result in the end. Two-down I feared the worst but full credit to the players because they showed great character to get back and win it.’
