Tug-of-war over Devlin

ST PAUL’S Football Club manager Craig Culkin is ‘disgusted’ that Jersey Scottish are blocking a transfer of a player between the clubs which he says could lead to the player not playing again until next season.

Muratti and Jersey Scottish defender Scott Devlin, a former Jersey Player of the Year, is seeking a move to St Paul’s, but his request was turned down this week by the Coca-Cola Combination’s transfer panel.

Scottish opposed the move as they are short of players due to numerous injuries and three signings having left the Island. They refute Culkin’s claim that they are blocking Devlin’s move, saying they need him to help them through their current crisis.

Scottish boss Pat Brennan said: ‘If Scott had asked for a transfer earlier in the season we would have let him go because we had enough players then. But our situation has changed dramatically. Two of our players have left the Island while another has gone to university. We have a lot injured and as a result we were forced to scratch our reserve game last weekend because we only had six available after the first team was sorted out.’
