Two goals from former AFC Bournemouth Youth team player Jack Cannon were instrumental in a 3-1 win against the home team at St Ouen, the parish side who are currently top of Coca-Cola Combination Division II.
Wanderers’ other goal, booking them a final spot against Guernsey Priaulx League champions-elect Belgraves, was scored by junior Ollie Thompson.
Wanderers manager Daryn Noble said: ‘It’s a bonus to reach a cup final and on the night we deserved it.
St Ouen gave us a good game first half but they never came out of their changing room after half time.
‘I’m delighted for my players, they have something to look forward to at the end of the season.
They worked hard, their attitude was first class and I think 3-1 flattered St Ouen.’ Saints manager Steve Pallett said: ‘First half it was fairly even and it was set up to be a good game.
But it all went wrong for us, one or two players didn’t play, Wanderers got us on the back foot and they dominated the second half.
‘Jack Cannon ran the game for them in midfield and they deserved to win.
‘After going ahead with Scott Quarrell’s penalty we then fell asleep and they equalised.
It was like a sheet of ice breaking; everything went after that.
‘We have some big games coming up in Division II and our target is the title.
If we play like we did last night then we will give ourselves problems trying to achieve it.’ Noble added: ‘Our youngsters are coming of age quickly, we fielded one under-16 and three under-18s last night; our average age was 20 and collectively we played well.
‘Jon Southern ran his heart out and Jack Cannon has added quality.
It’s starting to come together now and I believe we can retain our Division I status this season despite our current position.
‘It’s in our hands, we have four games remaining and they’re against the teams around us, St Brelade, St Paul’s, Rozel Rovers and First Tower.
