GALLERY: Russian circus comes to town

From the death-defying to extraordinary displays of bravery and strength, the cast of the Moscow State Circus didn’t disappoint the thousands who turned out to see them perform at Fort Regent over the weekend.

It has been a few years since it has visited Jersey, and making sure there was something different on offer, the production of Zhelaniy was built around a version of the Russian folklore story of Cvetik-Semicvetik, or The Flower with Seven Colours, by Benjamin Losin, in which each of the petals represent a wish.

Wizard Wako, a typical clown who entertained the crowds as the sets behind him were changed, and his mad sidekick Natalia Mezentceva, took the audience on a journey to a wondrous and mysterious enchanted garden, and, during the fairytale, he granted wishes to Kushka Veslovskiy, who plays Zhenya, surrounded by a multitude of flying, back-flipping, juggling, wire-walking and roller-skating performers.
